Fly Fishing Catherine Creek

April 1st is right around the corner which means opening day of trout season on the streams. Most fisherman will be spin fishing with egg sacks which is a productive method to landing rainbows on Catherine creek. Guide Mark Moskal prefers to fly fish however. For the past 15 years Mark has hit the streams on opening day with fly rod in hand. He prefers egg patterns that imitate the single eggs of rainbow trout, favorite colors include, peach, champagne, orange and chartruese. Other popular flies are egg sucking leeches and buggers along with beaded nymphs. He focuses mainly on pool tailouts and small pools. The water looks good and it is full of trout, hopefully we will see you out on the stream.
